Bridging Minds and Cultures Through Psychology
I believe in the power of personal narratives. Exploring emotions buried deep within, anxieties that even individuals themselves may not fully recognize, and the meanings we construct in our inner world has been more than just an academic pursuit for me—it has shaped my journey and purpose in life. Studying psychology has taught me that my role is not merely to provide ‘solutions,’ but to guide individuals in understanding their emotions and making choices that empower them.
After completing my undergraduate degree in psychology at Sogang University, I pursued a master’s degree in clinical psychology in Malaysia. This experience broadened my perspective on how psychology is practiced in diverse cultural settings. While the essence of human emotions may be universal, the way individuals interpret and express them varies depending on their cultural and environmental context. I firmly believe that respecting these differences and providing psychological support tailored to each individual’s unique background is at the core of effective healing.
During my clinical training at UCSI Psychology Centre and Valley Psychological Centre, I gained hands-on experience in psychological assessment, intervention, and therapy. I became proficient in using assessment tools such as MMPI, WAIS-IV, and WISC-IV to objectively understand clients’ psychological difficulties while applying therapeutic approaches such as CBT and ACT to support emotional healing. Beyond clinical practice, I actively engaged in community mental health initiatives—delivering a mental health talk for nurses at Prince Court Medical Centre, participating in a mental well-being workshop at the United Nations University (UNU), and organizing awareness events to promote mental health literacy. These experiences reinforced my belief that psychology should extend beyond academic and clinical settings to reach people in meaningful, practical ways.
As a clinical psychologist, my goal is to help individuals gain clarity about their emotions and discover their capacity for change. In particular, at The Bridge Centre, I hope to support individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, including immigrants and multicultural families, as they navigate the challenges of adapting to new environments. The process of change can be daunting and unfamiliar, but I am committed to walking alongside my clients, providing warmth, understanding, and tangible support as they embark on their journeys toward mental well-being.
I hope that, for those I work with, therapy is not merely about ‘solving problems’ but an opportunity to rewrite and reclaim their own stories. As I continue to grow as a psychologist, I am dedicated to creating spaces where individuals can explore their inner worlds, heal, and build healthier, more fulfilling lives.
